Awarded Military Medal promulgated in Commonwealth of Australia Gazette 19th April 1917.
On the night of the 29th Aug. 1916 at about 9p.m. when in charge of a horse ambulance wagon awaiting patients at Casualty Corner (Bailiff Wood) heavy shell fire was opened by the enemy on that spot. Driver Kammerman was standing at his horses heads at the time. The horses which were terrified and maddened by the shells, and one of which was wounded, broke away and raced down the road, Kammerman ran after them, succeeded in catching them up and controlling them, at great personal risk to himself, both from shell fire and plunging horses, and returned with them to Casualty Corner. The whole incident happened under heavy shell fire. |

Death of Mr. "Brownie" Kent—A very large circle of friends will regret the passing away at Bedford Park Sanatorium of Mr. Herbert Kent, more popularly
known as "Brownie," whose death occurred last week. The late Mr. Kent, who was about 35 years of age, was badly gassed at the war and never recovered
from the ill-effects of the deadly poison. He enlisted for active service immediately on receipt of the news that his brother, the late Mr. F; B. Kent, had been killed in action. During his career on active service Mr. Kent earned great distinction as a boxer by annexing the title of light weight champion of the A.I.F. In his
final fight he entered the ring with several broken ribs, but this did not deter him, neither did it have any effect on the ultimate result. The late Mr, Kent was
decidedly popular amongst his fellow men. He had a bright and breezy disposition and was always full of life, even right up to the last. Under-lying his
high and reckless-like spirit, there was a fine manly disposition, a characteristic found only in such type of man as he was. Whilst in France he married a
French girl, and she and two little children survive.
