On the night 10th/11th August 1918, near Bray-Sur-Somme, this man did his work as a runner with special gallantry under heavy machine gun fire. When not carrying messages he searched for wounded and assisted them to a place of safety. Later he collected some men who had lost direction and with splendid initiative led them under hostile fire to a position from which they could onfilade the enemy. This caused a large party of the enemy to retire.

Clarence Clifford Hunt, who was killed in action in France on July 25. He was 22 years of age, and enlisted from Murat Bay in March, 1915. With reinforcements he sailed for Egypt in the following June. He was five weeks in action on Gallipoli, and then became ill and spent two months in hospital in Malta. Upon recovery he rejoined his unit in Egypt, and later was sent to France. Like his late brother, Pte.
